Huawei’s Pisa Research Institute is a core innovation hub in the field of automotive software and embedded systems. We are seeking a world-class expert in Operating System architecture to lead design efforts across smart cockpit and autonomous driving domains. The successful candidate will own system architecture design from kernel to framework, tackle reliability, safety isolation, and AI acceleration challenges, and lay the groundwork for the next-generation vehicle computing platform.
Key Responsibilities:
• Automotive-Grade Reliability Architecture: Build a high-reliability OS framework with strong fault-tolerance for cockpit, driving, and vehicle control scenarios.
• Smart Cockpit OS Architecture: Drive end-to-end architecture design and evolution of the cockpit OS, from kernel to framework, ensuring industry-leading performance and robustness.
• Multi-Domain Secure Convergence: Lead the design of virtualization, secure isolation, and efficient resource sharing architectures to support convergence of cockpit, vehicle control, and autonomous driving domains.
• System-on-Chip Optimization: Optimize performance across macro/micro kernel designs, and leverage CPU/GPU/NPU/memory/bandwidth capabilities of automotive SoCs.
• Next-Gen AI-Centric OS: Develop key OS technologies to support efficient AI model inference and heterogeneous resource scheduling, enabling a solid foundation for onboard AI applications.
Required Qualifications:
• Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• 7+ years of OS kernel development experience, with notable contributions to the Linux kernel community
• Deep understanding of low-level system performance and reliability optimization
• Expert in kernel scheduling, memory management, device drivers, and system debugging
• Recognized authority in OS architecture with leadership in major system design projects
• Strong publication or patent record in system software
• Excellent cross-cultural communication and strategic thinking
• Fluent in English and confident in public technical discourse
Preferred Qualifications (Plus):
• Maintainer or technical committee member in Linux Foundation or similar open source orgs
• Original contributions in OS kernels, real-time systems, or embedded OS
• Familiarity with automotive OS safety and compliance requirements
• Experience with RISC-V and next-gen computing platforms
• Expertise in OS security, virtualization, and domain isolation
• Publications in top-tier conferences (OSDI, ASPLOS, EuroSys, etc.)
• Proven track record in driving large-scale tech transformations
• Extensive collaboration experience with multinational R&D teams
